Patrick Hennessy
Patrick Hennessy (1946) has served as a director of the Enterprise Directorate-General of the European Commission since 2000.

After gaining a master's degree in economic science, Mr Hennessy spent several years working for the Irish Government Service. In 1989 he joined the European Commission as deputy head of the cabinet of the Agriculture Commissioner. He later went on to serve as senior adviser to the Director General and as a director of the Directorate General VI for Agriculture and as a director of the Directorate General XXIII for Enterprise Policy, Distributive Trades, Tourism and Co-operatives.

Thomas Jostmann
Thomas Jostmann joined Cefic in 2004 as executive director of the Product Stewardship Programme.

As German national, Thomas Jostmann obtained a degree in chemical engineering (1982) and a PhD (1986) in technical chemistry at the University of Dortmund (G) before embarking on his professional career in the Chemical Engineering Department of Hüls.

After gaining a few years of experience in the production and licensing business, he was appointed vice president of the Process Technology Department in 1995.

For two years (1997-1999) he served as site manager and general manager of Sivento Chemie GmbH (Rheinfelden) and, following the merger of Hüls and Degussa, was appointed as the site manager of Chemiepark Marl (1999-2000). In 2001, he was appointed Vice President Technical Management & Engineering and ESH Coordinator for the Business Unit Fine Chemicals of Degussa.

Klaus Mittelbach

Dr Klaus Mittelbach (1956) is Head of the Department Environmental Policy for the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and is here representing Unice, the Union of Industrial and Employers Confederations of Europe.

Mittelbach has been Executive Director and Board member of Econsense since 2000. This is a joint project of globally active German companies and organisations as a dialogue platform for Sustainable Development. He is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DAU - Deutsche Akkreditierungs- und Zulassungsstelle für Umweltgutachten mbH (EMAS Accredition Body).

Dr Michael Warhurst is Senior Toxics Officer at WWF - the World Wide Fund for Nature.

Stefan Scheuer is EU Policy Director for EEB - the European Environment Bureau.



Nico Schrakamp
Nico Schrakamp (1939) has served as a non-executive director of Unimills BV since 2002. Unimills BV produces vegetable oils and fats for use in foodstuffs, for technical applications and as high grade foodstuffs.

He studied chemical engineering and has spent most of his working life with Unilever in the Netherlands, England, Canada and Germany. He has held various functions, such as process engineer, production manager, research manager, technical director and general manager, and is currently managing director of Unimills. In the latter function he is also responsible for the restructuring of Unilever's oil processing business in Europe.

In 1999 he was appointed as a director of a foundation sponsored by Dutch trade and industry that focuses on a voluntary agreement designed to help reduce packaging and increase the recycling of this material. After fulfilling the targets in 2002 he retired from this function.

Frans Tummers
Frans Tummers (1941) is member of non-executives boards of Shell in the Netherlands, Heineken and Electrabel. He is also board member of the Netherlands Employers Federation (VNO-NCW), the Council of the Dutch National Bank and the Maastricht School of Management.

After gaining academic degrees in political science and economics he joined Unilever in 1967 as a marketing trainee and fulfilled various functions in marketing and advertising in the Netherlands and abroad. He served as executive vice president of Foods Europe from 1995 and as chairman of Unilever Nederland from 1998 to 2002, when he retired.
