| About the venue The Hague and Scheveningen The Hague is one of the largest cities in the Netherlands and is famous as the seat of the Dutch Government. The government buildings are situated in the Binnenhof or 'Inner Court', which was originally the hunting lodge of the Counts of Holland. In the Golden Age the Binnenhof was one of the most important diplomatic centres of Europe. There are many convivial cafés on the neighbouring square. As a centre of government The Hague has attracted a large number of international companies, such as oil companies, construction groups, financiering and insurance companies and mining and shipping firms. Most of the embassies and consulates are also situated in The Hague. For more information about The Hague see www.denhaag.com. Scheveningen is a lively part of The Hague with a long sandy beach, a boulevard lined with cafés and terraces, a pier and a shopping centre. The port of Scheveningen has its own distinct ambience. You can find out more about the history of this former fishing village at the Scheveningen Museum at Neptunesstraat 2 ( www.museumscheveningen.nl ). |
